COASTS, NOT COAL - RAM Terminal Hearing

COASTS, NOT COAL
The past year and a half has been an amazing experiment in real democracy. Together, the people of southeast Louisiana spoke up and local government listened: we don't want the RAM Coal Export terminal or its dirty coal trains. City and Parish resolutions were passed, Plaquemines Parish denied a construction permit, and a Belle Chasse judge ordered the state permit revoked.

But the RAM Terminal is still at it. It has reapplied for a state permit from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and a public hearing has been scheduled for next week.

Now, more than ever, we need your voice. We can't afford to let the West Bank transform into an industrial corridor and threaten one of our most important coastal restoration projects.

Will you commit to coming to the hearing next week and bring 5 friends and neighbors? The louder our voice of opposition, the more difficult it will be for the DNR to conclude that this project is in the public interest.

Here are the details:
What: Press Event and DNR Hearing on RAM’s Coastal Use Permit

When:
September 17th (Thursday), press event at 5:30 pm, Hearing at 6 pm.
Where: Belle Chasse Auditorium, 8398 LA-23, Belle Chasse, LA

Why:
Stand up for community and coastal restoration by holding a sign at the press event and sharing a public comment at the hearing! Refreshments will be available.
Join us Thursday, September 17th in Belle Chasse to stand up for coast not coal.
